Gathered haiku
heron lands
in deep snow --
legs much shorter
over snow plains
a red moon rising --
winter evening
on this cold day
even the snow
shivers
old man cannot hear
young man cannot see
birds sing regardless
old grey poet
looks into shadows
sees Constantinople
wild wind dancing
whip lash trees
stripped
falling in the wind
the gull turns
and flies away
