over the mountains
snow falls still --
black crow waiting
a gift of flowers
on a sickroom table
so calm, so quiet
dog's clouded eye
sees love
without seeing
evening silence
snow covers last leaves -
branches bend low
full moon
slatted shadows
at the window
in the bare oak
squirrels play tag --
winter sunshine
in the wild wind
bamboo fence poles
bend, clatter
in white water
torn branches
dance again
old brush worn just so
bristles branches
over January sky
old indoor cat
happy in the fresh air
blinks in winter sunshine
stile in tumbled wall
marks snow from snow --
connecting paths
winter cat -
out wants in
in wants out
winter storm -
house creaks
clouds hurry
in the evening
-- a sudden silence of snow
in the dark sky
a thousand stars --
listen!
from the high moors
a chill wind --
the cat sleeps indoors
heron lands
in deep snow --
legs much shorter
over snow plains
a red moon rising --
winter evening
