Reward
"Mayor Praises Plucky Pensioner"

There was a reward of course.
Not much. Just a token, really.
And a certificate in a wooden frame.
The ceremony was nice, all smiles
and flashbulbs, and the mayor
shook his hand. Five times.
Once for him and four times for
the cameras. And then they
all went home. The clock
ticked, silence settled, and
the old man and his wife
made a nice cup of tea.
